Monica believes in reaching beyond boundaries and borders. Monica is an active host for the City of Carson Sister Cities program with Japan. She opens her heart and home to foreign exchange students. Providing mentoring opportunities.

Monica believes in public safety and having the community involved with law enforcement decisions and oversight. Monica recently attended and graduated from the Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Community Volunteer and Education Program.

Monica meets with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti to discuss the importance of urban planning and important hot topics in municipal government.

About Monica Cooper Treasurer

Monica Cooper was voted in as Treasurer of the City of Carson, California in March 2015. Since then, Monica has been an integral part of the city’s continued success. When running for office, Monica Cooper promised the people of Carson that she could make their city more financially viable, and over the past 2 years, she’s done just that. Since being voted in, Monica Cooper has worked tirelessly to improve the city’s investment portfolio and put together a diverse investment strategy. She has also successfully converted the city’s investment portfolio to new report software specifically designed for municipal investment portfolios.

As the City Treasurer, Monica Cooper is responsible for the investment of the City of Carson, Carson Successor Agency and Housing Authority reserve funds. She also oversees banking services, proper cash flow, custody service agreements and ensuring that investments conform to the City’s adopted investment policy and Bond Indentures. Through prudent fiscal investment management, Monica Cooper ensures the City’s cash liquidity needs are met and principal is preserved.

Monica continues to mentor the future young leaders program through the Millennium Foundation. Cooper is an active member of the Carson Business Community. She believes in a strong economy for Carson and business opportunities for all entrepreneurs. Monica is an advocate for public safely and having the community involved with law enforcement decisions and oversight. Monica recently attended and graduated from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Community Volunteer and Education Program.

Monica Coopers is most passionate about her role as Treasurer and plans to run for office again when the time comes. She sees great potential in the City of Carson and is genuinely pleased in where it’s headed. Ultimately, Monica Cooper hopes to continue to make Carson an even better place live.

Apart from her career as treasurer, Monica Cooper is deeply involved in the community.  She is involved in a number of communal activities including:
